Akhilesh Yadav Bio
Akhilesh Yadav has grown up with his grandparents, as his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, was busy in politics. Akhilesh Yadav was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha from Kannauj in a by-election in 2000. In May 2012 Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Kannauj parliamentary seat to further serve as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh after his party won the Assembly elections.
Akhilesh Yadav was sworn in as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2012, at the age of 38, winning 224 seats in the March 2012 assembly elections.
Apparently Akhilesh Yadav father and his family did not want Akhilesh Yadav to join politics. However, after Mulayam contested and won both Kannauj and Sambhal Lok Sabha seats in 1999 elections and subsequently resigned from Kannauj, the SP leaders felt that Kannauj seat could be retained only if Akhilesh Yadav contests that seat.
Akhilesh Yadav fought in his first elections facing stiff opposition from within the party, and defeated his nearest rival Akbar Ahmad Dumpy of BSP by more than 80, 000 votes in a bye-election held on February 17th 2000.
