Latest : GMCS Fee Increased

You may be aware that the present fee of Rs.5500/- for General Management and Communication Skills Course was fixed way back in 2013 and has not undergone any revision during the last four years.

Considering the above, the Council has decided to revise the fee for the course on General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) from Rs.5500/- to Rs.7000/. The students registering for the afore stated course w.e.f. 1st February, 2017 on wards shall be required to pay the revised fee of Rs.7000/-.

Not Completed GMCS within 1 year of Articleship

As per ICAI rules, if a student fails to complete GMCS-1 within 1 year, the articleship period will be extended to that extent, upto which the delay continues.

But practically, there are many cases where nothing as stated above happened.

So, students should complete the GMCS in time. If it gets late, then don’t worry.

GMCS-2 Course details, Fee, Registration and Due date:

Eligibility for GMCS 2:

  1. Has registered for Articleship Training on or after 1st May, 2012
  2. Has completed GMCS-1 during first 12 Months of Articleship training.
  3. Presently serving practical training between 19th and 36th Month
    Duration: 15 days
    Fee: Rs.5,500 (May be less in few cities)
    Clarification regarding GMCS-2 completion date:

It is brought to the attention of ICAI that many students are not aware regarding the due date to complete GMCS-2. It is hereby clarified that, students can complete their GMCS-2 course even after clearing their CA Final exams.

The rule regarding GMCS-2 is that, by the time a CA Student applies for Membership in ICAI, they must have completed this course.

GMCS Registration Procedure

Students are advised to register at the portal or contact the nearest Regional Council/Branch for registration in GMCS-I Course and GMCS-2 course.The fee for GMCS-2 cannot exceed Rs.5,500

GMCS DD in Favour of:

The Demand Draft for GMCS shall drawn in favour of the Regional Office. For example, Student registering for GMCS under WIRC Region shall Draw a DD in Favour of “WESTERN INDIA REGIONAL COUNCIL,”payable, at Mumbai.

Similary, Students from Southern Region shall Draw DD in Favourof “Southern India Regional Council” Payable at chennai.

What is General Management & Communication Skills (GMCS) Course?

Eligibility for attending GMCS Course?

(i) A student who has passed Intermediate / Professional Education (Examination – II) and registered in Final Course and either has completed practical training or is serving last 12 months of practical training is eligible to undergo the course.

What Students Do in GMCS

What is the exception for the students who attend Four Weeks Residential Programme?

A student who completes Four Weeks Residential Professional Skills Development programme organized by the Board of Studies will not be required to undergo GMCS Course. sircoficai

Fee structure for attending GMCS Course?

The fees for attending GMCS Course shall not exceed Rs.5500/- per student (w.e.f. 1st July, 2013) on non-residential basis inclusive of course and study materials. The fee structure does not apply to Dubai Overseas Office. sircoficai

GMCS during weekends?

For working Chartered Accountants, the Regional Councils / Branches may organize GMCS batches during weekends under same rules and regulations as applicable for regular batches. sircoficai

Do Board of Studies provide any study material for this course?

The Board of Studies provides study material for this course. The study materials are delivered to the Regional Councils / Branches on their request for distribution to the students after registering for the course. sircoficai

It has been decided to grant extension to students, who were registered for practical training on or after 1st May, 2012 and completed one year of their practical training but not completed the GMCS-I course are required to complete GMCS-I Course latest by 30th September, 2014.
